The International Congress of Catholic Teaching was held at Fordham University in New York from June 5th to June 8th. On June 7th and 8th all the working sessions took place at Fordham University.
OIDEL organized a Lab to explain the importance of organizations such as the OIEC to be present before international bodies such as the United Nations or UNESCO. Ignasi Grau, director of OIDEL and representative of the OIEC in Geneva, also had meetings with several national representatives of Catholic education to show our willingness to denounce violations of human rights related to education in the different countries where the OIEC has members.
On the 8th, the event closed at United Nations Headquarters in New York. The session was presided over by the Nuncio of the Holy See to the United Nations, Monsignor Bernadito Auza, by M. Zani, Secretary of the Congregation for Catholic Education, and Philippe Richard, Secretary General of the International Organization for Catholic Education. The Congress was a success, bringing together almost a thousand people representing more than 201,000 schools from more than 100 countries. Philippe Richard also had very kind words for OIDEL, to thank them for their collaboration at the United Nations Office in Geneva.
