Within the framework of our 40th anniversary, we present this collective work, initiated by Alfred Fernandez in 2018 and brought to completion by collaborators and academics, which seeks to capture Alfred’s thinking on the right to education.

Under the title A Text “à discuter”, OIDEL aims to address the most relevant issues that we have been discussing over the past 40 years in international conversations on the right to education.

It is also intended as a tribute to Alfred Fernandez, who led OIDEL for more than 30 years, and as a recognition of his knowledge and dedication to others.

All those of us who had the immense honor of working or collaborating with him will remember him as a humble, joyful person with great openness of spirit. Endowed with an extraordinary intellect, natural kindness, and refined manners, Alfred was deeply respected and appreciated by all of us and within the international community. His kindness and generosity gave encouragement to many restless hearts.

This presentation event in Geneva will be followed by further presentations in other countries, which will be announced in due course.
