OIDEL at European Alliance for Christian Education General Assembly

Brussels (Belgium), 13th-14th January 2026 | In 2025, the European Alliance for Christian Education (EACE) was officially founded as an EU lobby group, building on over a decade of gatherings under the name Brussels Considerations. Today, EACE brings together leaders of evangelical schools across Europe, representing more than 1,100 schools and 250,000 students—and the network is still growing.

Engaging with EU Policymakers
Josyane Zingg, representing OIDEL, attended the two-day gathering to explore the challenges facing Christian education and meet with like-minded Members of the European Parliament (MEPs).

On the first day, participants met with MEP Bert-Jan Ruissen (ECR Group), who provided updates on key EU education initiatives, including the Union of Skills, the European Education Area, and Erasmus+. MEPs from Lithuania, Spain, Luxembourg, and Croatia, part of the informal EU working group on Human Dignity, also joined the discussions. The afternoon focused on EU advocacy priorities and strategies.

Learning from Global Advocacy
The second day featured a presentation by George Tryfiates, Vice President for Public Policy and Legal Affairs at the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI), who shared lessons from ACSI’s successful advocacy work in the United States. Later, EACE representatives joined the education pluralism event organized by OIDEL and the ECR Group.

Looking Ahead
OIDEL will continue to work closely with EACE, strengthening our shared commitment to freedom of education and the cultural rights of minorities across Europe and the world.
