Geneva (Switzerland), 14th–17th July 2025 | OIDEL, in collaboration with Universidad de la Rioja, successfully organized the Summer training on Women, Peace and Security (WPS) to mark the 25th anniversary of the UN Security Council Resolution 1325. Over the course of a week, law students from Universidad de La Rioja in Spain and Universidad de la Sabana in Colombia joined us in Geneva to deepen their understanding of the role women play in peacebuilding and security initiatives.

59th Session of the Human Rights Council
Geneva (Switzerland), 16 June – 9 July 2025 | Within the framework of the United Nations, the Human Rights Council (HRC) is the main intergovernmental body responsible for the protection and promotion of human rights. The Council meets three times a year: in March, June, and October. The June session holds particular significance for OIDEL, as it is when the Special Rapporteur on the Right to Education presents her reports—such was the case during this 59th session of the Council.
III Summer University “Human Rights and Education”

Joint presentation by CEU-CEFAS and OIDEL at CEU San Pablo University of the report «Trends in Freedom of Education Worldwide»
Madrid (Spain), 11th June 2025 | At the CEU San Pablo University headquarters in Madrid, the report “Trends in Freedom of Education Worldwide: Analysis of Its Enablers and Its Relation to Social Mobility and Equity” was presented. The study, authored by Gonzalo Sanz-Magallón, a researcher at CEU-CEFAS, is based on the Global Education Freedom Index (FEI 2023), developed by OIDEL, and a thorough review of academic literature on the strong performance of non-state schools in many countries.

Brussels (Belgium), 20th-21st May 2025 | OIDEL participated in the 2025 edition of Think Tank Central, New Direction’s annual flagship conference. The event brought together leading centre-right civil society organisations under the theme: “Freedom in a Changing World”, focusing on how to advance liberty in the face of conflict, economic uncertainty, and cultural polarization.

OIDEL presents FEI to Norwegian Parliament
Oslo (Norway), 24th March 2025 | Ignasi Grau, Director of OIDEL, and Josyane Zingg, OIDEL's Advocacy and Training Officer, were invited to the Norwegian Parliament to present the Freedom of Education Index (FEI) and explore ways for the country to fulfill its human rights obligations when it comes to educational pluralism.
